Why I Don’t Recommend Melatonin Supplements

Historically speaking, physicians and specialists have recommended melatonin supplements for simple scenarios like jet lag, and for more serious situations like chronic insomnia. Unfortunately, some research has pointed to these over-the-counter supplements as being quite ineffective. For instance, researchers pulled a large number of common melatonin brands off the shelves to evaluate their makeup. Most of them showed to have much less of the amount of melatonin in each capsule as they originally indicated. They also found impurities in most brands that they couldn’t fully identify.
