5 Benefits of a Ketogenic Diet – Weight Loss & Beyond

September 10, 2022 By Paul

The ketogenic diet is popular, but not very well respected by experts. In fairness, the keto diet can be abused by people who just want to eat lots of bacon and butter. However, the core of the diet is based on plant-based foods and healthy fats. To gain the most from a ketogenic diet, consume healthful fats, avoid meats with antibiotics and hormones, and use MCT oil. Ketogenic diets have been shown to help people lose weight, which is important in a world where over 2.8 million die of obesity each year. By reducing inflammation, keto also helps prevent heart disease. There are studies showing that ketogenic diets can benefit people with diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, and epilepsy. There is even some reason to believe keto can help against Alzheimer’s disease, acne, and autism, among other conditions.

Key Takeaways:

  • Obesity-related diseases kill around 2.8 million people a year, and ketogenic diets have been shown to reduce obesity.
  • Heart disease isn’t caused by fat, it is caused by inflammation, and ketosis reduces inflammation.
  • Keto may also help against Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy and diabetes (both Type 1 and Type 2).

“The explosion of ketogenic diet headlines may lead you to believe this is a new way of eating, but in fact, humans have been eating the ketogenic diet for tens of thousands of years.”
