3 Ways Fasting Improves AutoImmune Diseases

3 Ways Fasting Improves AutoImmune Diseases

April 2, 2022 By Paul

For Americans, data shows that autoimmune conditions are on the rise. An autoimmune disease, of which there are over 100, exists when the body becomes the target of the immune system. In essence, the system’s default stance, which is to protect the body, backfires. Instead of attaching pathogens and mutant cells, the body’s own cells and systems are attacked. This mishap can result in systemic ills. Although autoimmune conditions can be trying to live with, there are lifestyle changes, and in particular, dietary choices that can help. Those living with autoimmune conditions are often the victims of systemic inflammation in the body and a great deal of stress besides. Fortunately, there are supplements that address these issues. These include zinc, the B vitamins, vitamin D and magnesium. The act of occasional fasting can also be a useful tool to aid the body in fighting an autoimmune condition. Fasting is especially useful, because it helps the body to utilize a body process known as autophagy. Autophagy is bodily process that includes breaking down and destroying old and damaged cells. This automatically makes way for newer and more efficient cells to grow and take over. This process strengthens the body and can delay the advent of many negative symptoms and degenerative conditions.

Key Takeaways:

  • Autoimmune diseases, such as Celiac disease and lupus, occur when the body attacks its own cells with antibodies.
  • Food sensitivities, toxin exposure, chronic stress, and nutrient deficiencies contribute to autoimmune diseases.
  • There are many ways to fast, including the simple 12-hour fast, the One Meal a Day Diet, and the Green Juice Fast.
