While it is hard to define a superfood, it is generally thought that a superfood is a food that has a great deal of functionality beyond regular nutrition. They are seen as being what is known as nutrient dense – meaning that per calorie, they have a lot of nutritional value. They are also believed to have a great deal of disease fighting power, because of the high levels of things like antioxidants. One of the best superfoods is leafy greens.
