How to Make Vegan Stir-Fry Recipes That are Better Than Takeout

July 14, 2022 By Paul

Stir Fry is not only the name of a style of Chinese cooking, but it’s also the name of a Chinese dish. Stir frying is done in a wok, with the food being cooked at high temperatures. Stir fry gets its name, because you are supposed to stir it continuously while it’s cooking. This is what makes the wok a good vessel for it, because you can stir without worrying about the food sliding over the sides. Stir Frying resembles sauteing, but with stir fry, the process is faster and at a higher temperature.

Key Takeaways:

  • A stir-fry needs a sauce – no dry bites – and requires prepping ingredients ahead of time.
  • If you don’t have a wok, a cast iron skillet is an alternative.
  • A good stir-fry includes veggies, a base (noodles or rice), and a chewy or umami ingredient, such as tofu or edamame.

“Unless you’re a Chinese speaker or an expert on Chinese history and culture, you may not be aware of the influence of Chao’s work on your life.”
