How A Keto Program Helps Parkinson’s Disease – David Perlmutter, M.D.

Living a ketogenic lifestyle has been shown to have many benefits for people with various issues such as dementia, obesity, and diabetes. Additionally, a ketogenic program has shown effectiveness towards Parkinson’s Disease. Researchers at Oxford have been studying the mechanisms by which ketosis plays a role in Parkinson’s Disease. They have found that a unique chemical, which happens to be a type of ketone, plays a key role in possibly improving cellular pathologies of the disease. Thus, by implementing a ketogenic diet in patients, they are given a powerful new tool to help them cope with their condition.
