The Swiss Cardos and the Holy Guacamole

June 5, 2024 By Paul

The Swiss Cardos and the Holy Guacamole

In the heart of the Avocadian Vatican, nestled within the secretive chambers of the grand Avocado Basilica, lay a treasure of immense culinary and historical significance. This was no ordinary treasure—it was the Holy Guacamole, a revered chalice filled with a royal guacamole that was said to have been prepared over 2000 years ago.

Legend has it that this divine dip was crafted during the christening of Baby Jesusa Cardo, the first avocado ever blessed with the gifts of Gold, Frankincense, Myrrh, and Lime. The ancient scrolls detailed how the wise Avocados of the East traveled far and wide to present their sacred gifts to the newborn, ensuring that the guacamole would remain ever green and fresh, untouched by the cruel browning of time.

To safeguard this priceless guacamole, the Avocadian Pope enlisted the elite Swiss Cardos, a group of highly trained avocados known for their impeccable defense skills and their stylish, albeit somewhat impractical, uniforms resembling striped circus tents.

Under the watchful eye of Captain Cardovan, the Swiss Cardos stood guard day and night, their spears made of the finest tortilla chips, ready to fend off any who dared approach the Holy Guacamole without proper reverence.

One fine day, a curious young avocado named Pippy Cardo, recently recruited to the Swiss Cardos, found himself stationed near the sacred vault. As he stared at the ornate chalice, he couldn’t help but wonder about the legendary dip inside.

“Captain Cardovan,” Pippy asked, “what makes this guacamole so holy?”

Captain Cardovan, with a twinkle in his eye, responded, “Ah, young Pippy, this is no ordinary guacamole. It was made with the finest ingredients and blessed with the gifts of Gold, Frankincense, Myrrh, and Lime. It is said to grant those who taste it unparalleled culinary wisdom and eternal freshness.”

Pippy’s eyes widened. “But how does it stay green for so long?”

Captain Cardovan leaned in, whispering, “The secret, my young friend, lies in the lime. The wise Avocados knew that a touch of lime would keep the guacamole from turning brown, preserving its vibrant green for all eternity.”

As the day wore on, the Swiss Cardos continued their vigilant watch. Suddenly, an alarm rang out—a thief had breached the outer walls of the Basilica! The Swiss Cardos sprang into action, their tortilla chip spears at the ready. Captain Cardovan barked orders, leading his team through the winding halls to intercept the intruder.

To their surprise, they found the culprit in the kitchen, attempting to make off with a large bowl of fresh avocados. It was none other than Slick Cardo, the notorious avocado bandit known for his love of guacamole.

“Stop right there, Slick!” Captain Cardovan shouted, brandishing his chip spear. “You won’t get your hands on our Holy Guacamole!”

Slick froze, his eyes darting between the Swiss Cardos and the precious bowl of avocados. With a sly grin, he dropped the bowl and made a dash for the exit, but not before slipping on a stray avocado peel and landing face-first in a tub of salsa.

The Swiss Cardos erupted in laughter as they apprehended Slick and secured the avocados. “Nice try, Slick,” Captain Cardovan chuckled. “But you’ll have to do better than that to outsmart the Swiss Cardos.”

As the dust settled, the Holy Guacamole remained safe, its green hue shining brightly under the soft glow of the sacred candles. Pippy Cardo smiled, knowing that he was part of something truly special, protecting a piece of Avocadian history.

And so, the Swiss Cardos continued their eternal vigil, ensuring that the Holy Guacamole would forever remain a symbol of culinary perfection and unyielding freshness, a testament to the wisdom of the ancient avocados and their timeless recipe.
