Whether you’re hosting a party or simply craving a delicious snack, this guacamole is sure to be a hit. Grab your avocados and get ready to create a dip that’s as fiery as it is irresistible!

Ingredients

  • Ripe avocados: 3 medium (approx. 450g or 16oz)
  • Lime juice: 2 tablespoons (30ml)
  • Fresh cilantro (coriander): 1/4 cup chopped (15g)
  • Jalapeño pepper: 1 medium, seeded and finely chopped
  • Garlic cloves: 2, minced
  • Red onion: 1 small, finely chopped (about 1/4 cup or 40g)
  • Tomato: 1 medium, diced (about 1/2 cup or 80g)
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon (5g), or to taste
  • Black pepper: 1/2 teaspoon (2g), or to taste
  • Cumin: 1/2 teaspoon (1g)
  • Hot sauce: 1-2 teaspoons (5-10ml), adjust to taste (optional, for extra heat)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Avocados: Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a large bowl. Use a fork or a potato masher to mash the avocados to your desired consistency—smooth or chunky.
  • Add Lime Juice: Pour in the lime juice and mix it into the mashed avocado. This not only adds flavor but helps prevent browning.
  • Incorporate the Vegetables: Add the finely chopped jalapeño, minced garlic, chopped red onion, and diced tomato to the bowl. Stir gently to combine.
  • Season the Guacamole: Sprinkle in the salt, black pepper, and cumin. Mix well. Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed. If you like extra heat, add a few dashes of hot sauce and mix again.
  • Add Cilantro: Gently fold in the chopped cilantro. This adds a fresh, herbaceous note that complements the spiciness.
  • Chill and Serve: For best results, cover the guacamole with plastic wrap, pressing it directly onto the surface to prevent browning, and refrigerate for about 30 minutes before serving.
  • Final Touch: Before serving, give the guacamole a final stir and taste. Adjust seasoning if necessary.

Notes

Serving Suggestions

  • Taco Crisps: Serve with crunchy taco chips for a classic and satisfying combination.
  • Fresh Vegetables: Pair with crisp veggies like carrot sticks, celery, bell peppers, and cucumber slices for a healthier dip option.
  • Grilled Meats: This guacamole is fantastic as a topping for grilled chicken, steak, or burgers.
  • Tacos & Burritos: Perfect as a side or a topping for tacos, burritos, and quesadillas.
