6 Ways To Activate Autophagy Without Fasting

6 Ways To Activate Autophagy Without Fasting

March 30, 2022 By Paul

Autophagy is a natural body process. When the body experiences stressors the cells must act to meet them. Older cells, under such conditions may deteriorate to the point where they are destroyed to make way for newer and therefore more efficient cells. The natural process of autophagy thus enhances body strength. It can be induced through fasting, which is a well-known way to promote such cell cleansing. However, there are other ways to push the body into this natural form of regeneration. For example, diets that restrict calories and protein have been shown to aid the body in achieving a state of autophagy. Likewise, intense workouts have also been shown to promote this state. Certain herbal supplements are also useful to this end. Finally, exposing the body to cold and hot therapy, through bouts of cold and sauna treatments can also induce the state of autophagy.

Key Takeaways:

  • Autophagy – a process of cellular recycling – removes senescent and viral infected cells.
  • A real food ketogenic diet includes leafy greens, low-glycemic index fruits, and healthy fats.
  • Autophagy can be activated by herbs such as ginger, turmeric, citrus bergamot, rosemary and sage.

“To activate autophagy, make sure to sleep 7 to 9 hours a night.”
